NC State’s AED PROGRAM
AEDs and Sudden Cardiac ArrestThe placement of AEDs on campus is important because of the timeframe to be successful in converting ventricular fibrillation. NC State University has a goal of having an AED on scene of a sudden cardiac arrest in the shortest reasonable response time. The EHS Fire & Life Safety Office and University Police have AEDs in certain vehicles and are dispatched to all medical incident on campus. The AED shall be mounted in an obvious location for easy access. Contact the EHS Fire & Life Safety Office for assistance with this at 919-515-2568 or email the AED Program Manager.Program Medical Direction
Medical direction for NC State’s AED program is provided by Wake County Emergency Services (EMS). This partnership ensures sound program development and support to campus partners.
